How can you download in Ipod

There just has to be a way to keep it powered during the download.

I have a speaker system with Ipod Flat port ( I don't know the formal name) in the back of the speaker. When the speaker is plugged in, it powers the Ipod. I don't know if the Ipod could take the data off the camera thru there as well?

A thought?
