Well, we are going to have to take a look at the consistance of the poo. Maybe I can have special pooper scoopers for when the whales are sick too. That way we can study the sick ones.
Man, I could have an entire catalog of whale poo stuff! Special poo-proof gloves. Poo-viewers (microscope). Specimin jars and containers to hold the jars. A label kit with photos of the different types of whales on it.

Oh yea, dry suit all the way, and a full face mask if I am going in! I am not into getting ANY poo on me! But that is the reason for the pooper-scooper. It is going to have to be remotely operated, so I can scoop poop without leaving the pilot house. I like wearing shorts and t-shirts ya know.

How about Whale Diapers!!! The starps could disolve in 24 hrs and a homing becon would activate as it breeched the surface. Then all you need is a crane to pluck it out of the water.

Anyway, no dipers, they are not too good for the environment.
I don't know about whale poo, but LadyDog and I saw a Goliath Grouper relieve himself in a big way. I think it was our sixth or seventh dive ever. A huge release generated a massive cloud of particulate around his bottom side.
She didn't know what was going on, so when we surfaced, LadyDog asked the DM, "what was that cloud of stuff around the grouper." When he told her, the look on her face was priceless. I was laughing so hard I almost fell off the boat.
Her favorite saying now is "We dive in a giant fish toilet." Maybe we should get that put on t-shirts.
