I've just added a photo to my gallery. Although it wasnt an accident and only slightly dive related...it thought it might amuse you all. I took it at vegetarian festival in Thailand,2004

What was the purpose of doing this?

Its a chinese festival that only seems to take place in south Thailand. Thousands of these guys impale their cheeks with swords,bicycles,trees.....and even scuba regs! They claim to be possessed by gods. Its an amazing experience to walk amongst it all. It was hard to find though, many expats in the dive community out there, didnt even know it went on in their village.

Doesnt it have something to do with the weirder the object you stick through the more luck youll have over the next year? Plain crazy to me.

lolz we have crucifixion here in the Philippines during holy week. w/c is more weird? i guess we just have to respect their beliefs... but i would not want to use those regs even if it was given for free... lolz

I think the purpose was to check for C02 retention using a new small bite piece on the 2nd stage.

Next years special might be rebreather hoses coming in one side and out the other. Saves on the clutter from the DSV then.
