The Philippine Coast Guard reported that a tuna accidentally dragged a scuba diver underwater at a depth of about 300 feet in waters off Kiamba, Saranggani.

Coast Guard District South Eastern Mindanao said the diver, Ramir Te, was on a fishing expedition when he was pulled underwater by a tuna at around 5:45 p.m. on Saturday.

"(He) was airlifted to Cagayan de Oro on (Sunday) by Philippine Air Force Helicopter accompanied by a hyperbaric doctor Dr. Jess Ramos," the Coast Guard said in its website.

The Coast Guard said the Air Force asked to have Te treated at the recompression chamber aboard Coast Guard search-and-rescue vessel BRP San Juan (SARV-001).

Coast Guard hyperbaric doctor Cdr. Eric Guieb was assigned to accompany and treat Te upon arrival on board SARV-001.

According to the Coast Guard, Te was to be transported on board a commercial vessel for Cebu anytime on Monday. –VVP, GMANews.TV
