The Lembeh Straits is in Sulawesi which is in Indonesia and is the epicenter of bizarre marine macro critters.

What is the one that looks like a disembodied scrap of kelp, but swims?

    wow... somehow, i'm feeling lucky..
i ever saw many of them... mostly..
even i didnt realize they were that unique or strage..
even in lembeh, i took very lil pics, since the creatures look ugly, and the envi uncolorful..hehehe...and they seem common (i found those frog fish several times)
i dont have much diving experience, no other place to compare but indonesia
i've should found this forum before to lembeh..

I JUST got back from Lembeh night before last. I can tell you it is everything these videos show....and more.

These videos are a great depiction of the fantastic frogfish. I was lucky enough to see a pair of hairy frogfish together. The one thing on the video I didn't catch up with is the Cockatoo Flounder found on the first video. I feel like I've seen it, now.
Thanks for posting these videos. My sister got great videos there. I hope she gets the editing done to allow such a post here.
