Default Diving in Redang, Malaysia (15-19 Oct 2009)

Here's the latest trip video. We stayed at Ayu Mayang Resort and had unlimited shore dives! Only (small) grumble was carrying the tanks, weights and stuff to the beach each time we did that (about 200-350 m, depending on point of entry). Good exercise though

The visibility was decent, being quite close to the monsoon season. In fact, most resorts on the island have already shut down for the year. We missed the whaleshark (yes Whaleshark!) by being 30 mins earlier (so I guess Early bird don't get the worm sometimes) which another group saw it.

Saw plenty of big schools of fishes - Bigeye snapper, Yellowtail Barracuda, Scissorstail Fusilier, Diamondfish, baby reef sharks etc. Many of these can be seen at the House reef itself! (weight carrying exercise though

One of the lesser known secrets of Redang was it has a dive site with very decent macro life. Our dive guide was experienced and brought us to the spot which has about 5 small reefs teeming with life. Saw banded boxer shrimp, baby banded pipefish, lionfish, stonefish, Blue-spotted ribbontail ray & juvenile moray eel (side by side!) and turtle among other marine life there.

Will definitely head back next year again, probably for the closing dives as our group did this year. In the meantime, the video is for rememberance! Enjoy!

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

No sea creatures were harmed in this filming & extreme care has been taken to leave the dive site as it was originally.

Interesting clips within the video :

    2:18 - School of Diamondfish
2:32 - School of Golden Rabbirfish
    2:48 - Bumphead Parrotfish
    3:17, 14:21 - Jenkins Stingray
    3:39, 10:14 - Blue-ringed Angelfish
    3:52, 8:33 - Wide-band Fusilier
    4:10, 8:25, 14:12 - Hawksbill Turtle
    4:50, 12:10 - Bigeye Snapper
    5:02, 5:34 - Flatworm
    5:22 : Reef Needlefish & Reflection
    5:42 - Box Crab
    6:06, <10:16> - Parrotfish sleeping <on it's side!>
    7:17 - Bridled Monocle Bream
    7:51. <13:17> - Blue-spotted Ribbontail Ray, <Eyes>

Thanks! Glad it was entertaining. The group provided the action, I just linked it up!
