American Airlines, Northwest Airlines, U.S. Airways and Delta Airlines has schemed a new surcharge for domestic flights for the Sunday following Thanksgiving and the weekend of Jan. 2-3-, the dates during which many Americans will be returning home from Christmas and New Year's travels.

Now air travelers already pay higher fees on many busy days already.

JetBlue and SouthWest have not followed suit. It is interesting that airlines have experienced declining revenues as a result of people balking at paying high airfare, so some air carriers are responding by, of all things, raising airfares.
