Default Coron Palawan March 09 Dive trip

Here are some pics taken at the house reef of Club Paradise in Coron, Palawan last March 2009. The 2 dives lasted about 58mins each at an average of 50 to 60ft depth, the water temp was about 82F, viz was about 40 to 45ft. The only resident of the reef we did not see was the dugong or sea cow, but we saw the spotted stingrays, glass shrimps, huge clams, sea turtles, bat fishes, pipefish etc.

Our group enjoyed these 2 dives, I hope you like the pics as well, can anyone please identify the fish at last picture below because I have no idea what it is.

Brutus, I hear conflicting reports on how diving in the Palawan region is compared to other areas in the Pinas.

    Great pics!

You are right, there are some conflicting comments on diving in Coron. The problem with Pinas is that it has an abundant number of good.......great dive sites to choose from

I think it mainly depends on the visibility and weather on that particular time of the year. For example some officemates of mine dove in the same area in the late quarter of last year and were disappointed of the poor visibility they had, probably because of the choppy waters at that time. While my group had great visibility in March, and experienced calmness of the sea when we were there. One factor also was the pre planning our team had with our friend a scuba intructor who was very familiar with Palawan for he was assigned there for 3 years. He pinpointed which areas to dive based on our scheduled trip.

I guess some forget the fact that not all dives are fun. As with anywhere, all divers will experience non memorable dives due to a number of factors that affects the dive trip.

But I still recommend Coron because you have choices like ship wreck dives, barracuda lake dive, you can even include Apo reef when you charter a live aboard etc. your choice, just plan it properly
