Reports are in that a scuba diver has died aboard a popular Southern California dive boat, the Psalty V.

"Harvey was one of the original incorporators of California Ships to Reefs (CSTR) and served as Senior Vice President and Board Member from November 2006 through November 2008. He was Founder and Past President, as well as Vice President of Sunken Treasures Society of Los Angeles, one of CSTR's original sink groups" reports Joel Geldin, Chairman and CEO California Ships to Reefs.

It has been reported that Harvey had just completed a dive at the Ship Rock dive site and after getting back on board, he complained of a pain between his shoulder blades in his back and went to lie down.

The Psalty V's well regarded Captain, Gary Jackson went to check on Harvey after awhile and found him unconscious and not breathing. CPR was started immediately while Jackson sped to the Catalina Recompression Chamber facility just minutes away where they unsuccessfully continued trying to revive Schmiedeke.

It has been reported that he may have died of a massive heart attack.
