I agree with jail time ... it might be a good deterrent for the other poachers they haven't got yet ... although five years isn't scary enough.

Glad he got caught, lets hope this makes others think twice about it. Not sure I'd waste the taxpayers money keeping him in our already overcrowded prison system, but I agree with Ace, take his gear and licenses and hit him with a big fine. However, if he's caught again, then jail would absolutely be appropriate.
On a side note, I realise the artifical lobster homes these poachers are putting out are typically garbage and need to be removed, but what could we learn from them about building clean and environmentally sound ones? Just a thought.
