Default North of Miami, Lauderdale by the sea.

I use to go to the reefs off Lauderdale by the sea. A lot of coral and see life in less than 10 ft of water. A good place to do night dives too. There is also a wreck in 30 ft water called the COPPENHAGEN.

I have to second that location. There are buoys marking the reef, so you have something to guide you. The reef starts out about 1/2 way out the pier. It is best to go when it is a calm day as the rip currents can get pretty bad there when it is blowing. The visibility is actually really good and there is a good amount of life. I thought it was a little deeper than 10 feet, but that may be very dependent on the tide.

The only down side of the place is the parking situation. Don't get me wrong there are plenty of places, both meters and expensive private lots, but if you are bringing scuba gear, you will want to park close...good luck with that.

There are also some really nice places to get a drink or a bite to eat right there, so after snorkeling or diving for a while, you can grab some fuel and get right back out there.

LBTS is great- only place i have ever seen a sea turtle right off the beach! i try to get there 3 or more times a year. i'm pretty sure the 1st line is well over 10 feet though- it's on line with the end of anglins pier.

just found out about coral cove and blowing rocks up in N. PB and Martin County. definitely worth the trip- if the water is calm.

anybody in need of a buddy- drop me a line- will be down in Lauderdale and Marathon from 08/22-09/07 and none of my usual cohorts can make it.
