Florida Scuba Olympics

The Florida Scuba Olympics will be presented February 7 in Largo by the Professional Association of Dive Operators (PADO). A group of dive retailers formed in January 2007, PADO promotes the sport of scuba at boating and outdoor sport shows. Each participating PADO member will send an Olympic team to the event to compete in a variety of underwater activities that test the diver's skills. Proceeds from this event will be donated to the area's Special Olympics Swim Team.

The City of Largo Recreational Department has donated the use of the Largo Rec Center at 13120 Vonn Road for the event. Mark Abdo, City of Largo Aquatics Director, has arranged for food vendors and donation of bicycles from area Wal-Mart stores. Officials from the Special Olympics are expected to be on hand the day of the event.
