California Sharks and Rays Lose a great Friend
It is with great sadness I have learned of the death of a most valuable researcher, Mark S. Conyers. Mark's dedication to the research and his love of the marine environment can not be measured. Mark has been with the research project since its start and has completed hundreds of research dives.
Mark died doing what he loved best, scuba diving. Mark was exploring the deep trench at La Jolla Shores in San Diego, California. Details of the incident are being withheld pending the final investigation. Mark S. Conyers was pronounced dead on the evening of July 25th, 2007.
From Monday July 30 through August 1, Mark can be seen throughout Ventura county on CNN news channel performing research as part of a short report about the Shark and Ray Count. The spot will run throughout those days at 23 or 53 on every hour.
