I tend more to a pregnant female, but who knows. I used a +10 diopter for the shoot as they are really small.
Isn't it the male that holds the developing young in the pouch?
+10?! I have used a +3.5, I have a new +5, but it has to be awfully hard to hold still with a +10!

really bad writing mistake.Of course it's the male which hold the eggs.
You need a tripod for a +10, and the depth of field is very small, so you need exactly the right distance to the subject.
I use a +4 internal flip filter (swopped it against the redfilter), the +10 I screw directly on the camera if I know that I only shot tiny critters.
+2 is about all I can get on my flip filter before it rubs.
I have a new Jobi Loc Line underwater tripod I am going to give a go in 2 weeks.
