Got a couple of tired/dead NiCad battery packs for my SS-200's, but don't really feel like spending $100 each to have them replaced.

Looks like they take six (6) C sized, plus whatever control electronics are inside...has anyone cracked one of these open to see what it takes to replace the batteries?

I`ve rebuilt many battery packs, they aren`t hard to do if you have a little electrical knowledge. The new cells should be easy to find online, especially if your in the US. Try (www.batteryspace.com), they`re my favourite as they ship all the way to me in Singapore.

Stay with whatever type you are using, eg. NiMH or NiCAD (as the charger may not be suitable for different typs). But you can change them for higher capacity without any problem, so you`ll get a longer run time.

Get 2700mh Minimum and I have seen higher. You have to solder the end of the stack and make sure they go back the same way. I is pretty straight forward! Good Luck!
