We've received confirmed reports that WorldWide Dive n Sail's S/Y Mandarin Siren has sunk during an Indonesia dive trip.

It was reported that all guests were on a morning dive when a fire broke out in what was believed to be an electrical short in the clothes dryer area that spread to the engine compartment.

The onboard crew battled to contain the blaze but were unable to, eventually being forced to abandon the ship which was destroyed.

There were no injuries reported.

The WWDS Indo Siren was nearby and dispatched immediately to pick up the guests and crew from their speedboat tenders, which then transferred them to nearby Sorong, then a day later to Jakarta, where one of the WWDS fleet owners and staff met with them to without hesitation arrange for replacement clothes, accommodations, emergency travel document assistance and airfare back home.

Such a sad ending to a beautiful ship, but the WWDS fleet will replace her, and we're just glad that nobody was hurt and that all guests were expertly taken care of by a highly professional crew, management and owners.
