Yea,

Been diving for a little bit. Sort of become the mother hen when
it comes to watching others. Alway thinking about the safety of
others, thats why the training. I don't want to be unprepared.
Having a well rounded Knowledge base, using something learned
in one area to apply to another has really rounded out my abilities.
My friends say of there is anyone they would want to be lost at
sea with, it Lars.

It's a way of life.

I haven't gotten to cave certs yet. That is schedule though.
I'm in, guess what? More training right now, yup. It's down time right
now. The Ocean where I'm at is like 54 degree's, which is fine, but the
4-6 swells will get to me. See, I'm a wus.. I get sea sick. Love diving
though. Love the heck out of it, so as you well know, once I get down about
15 feet or so, I'm one happy little pup.

Cavern and Cave 1 is schedule for sometime in May/June, schedule
permittining. I have the instructor lined up. I love the caverns, but video'ing
just caverns is not enough. I've penatrated a few time, I know, pretty stupid
but I feel confident with my Nav, bouyancy, Pin Fivots, frog kick, etc..
but that is no reason or excuse and I know it. It's the dude that follows
me like an elephant in a china store that gets me. Siltin everything up.
(Hey it looked real clear on the way in, what's the problem?). I know
how wonderful, beautiful some of these cave systems look. I know
it can draw you in to see just a little more. For those who are reading this
and are not cave certified, DO NOT go in unless you know what you
are doing. That means "Training and practice". Just remember, many
explorers who came before us, some died, so that we know how to do
it better, today. Don't repeat the mistakes of others. Don't become a
statistic. preaching again...

I want to learn it, not neccessarily to cave dive, but to understand the
lingo, understand conversations (I live in cave country), better my
knowledge base and of course penetrate (with very experenced cave divers)
when the opportunity arises and to be responsible. A lot of my friends are
cave divers and listening to them peaks my curiousity, yet they alway
remind me of the dangers.

Thanks for the feedbacks.. It's alway nice to give and receive positive
responses. Thats why I like diving so much, not just for the sport itself,
but the diversity of the character of the people.

Cards are cards. The only training above that I thought wasn't very useful was Boat, and it was a freebie. Even at that, the wife gained some training in tying knots during the boat class. I was just reviewing stuff I already knew, so I guess it wasn't completely useless. ;)

number of logs? dunno. . .stopped logging at a thousand dives back in 2000. but that would include my training dives. yep. i log my training dives. that way i remember who did what as well as track underwater behavior of students for future reference. that's the only thing i log nowadays. call me a control freak . . am proud of it! :D

Hi divers, well I am not going to go head to head with the list of cert cards here, but a little about me and my diving style.
I have over 1000 dives life time and dive from 25 ft shore and river dives to cavern, and off shore wrecks
I dive single AL80 up to CCR.
Now the controversial part, my CCR is of my own design.
I work in the compressed air industry in new product development and with breathing air system design for over 20 years.
So before you go off saying this guy is nuts and will kill himself on a self built Rebreather, I have the back ground to design and build what I fell are better than commercial units.
I do not expect you to agree with my above statement as for I am only one man with one mans opinion, but its mine, and my safety is also mine as well.
What I have done is taken all the data that I have researched on commercial made CCRs and make every attempt to design out the known flaws of each unit to make an even better CCR.
OK by now you are most likely saying man this guy has a big head and is probably complacent, well that is not the case and that is what will get you killed.
Sure I have a stack of c cards, spent good money just to go through the motions and get the next c card, but I agree with =
Just like quoted before in prior post there is no replacement for experience.
You are responsible for your own safety.
This is my dive style.

Every good rebreather was designed by one guy......don't be so hard on yourself....Dave Sutton designed the Inspiration rebreather, and look where it is now!

I personally find CCR's intresting, the institute i work in has just got 3 rebreathers for the twilight zone research, i would love to hear specifics about your rebreather if possible.
i do believe that everything is possible and a good reboreather is built by good research and continueing improvment.
i would love to hear about yours.

Daniel,

You'll get more of a response about rebreathers if you post your question over in the rebreather forums.

I feel really humble in the company of some real good divers with so much experience and training.

Padi - O/W
SSI - Drysuite
SSI - Stress & Rescue

Been diving for about three years now. I have only about 50 or so dives loged but with out diging out my log book it's just a guess. I do intend to get more training this summer but will depend on my work schedule and there training schedule.

As soon as i can get some time for myself and buddies to update are web sight, i can give some more info.
our sight is www.rebreathertech.com and most of the info on the page is out dated and was just when we were F ing around with breathers, so the pictures are lame to what we have going on now.
I would be happy to get some more info out I just want to be careful what we show as for we do not want any one getting a big head and getting hurt or worse, if you would like to ask questions please do so off line.

Don't let rebreathers spook ya.
2 things to do, after you've decided to buy one.
1) Monitor your PPO
2) Stay within the manufactures recommendation for the life of your scrubber
You've be fine... they are a blast... I believe the future of diving.
Get in now and you'll be sitting pretty when the crowd comes running for a rebreather.
