An experienced scuba diver has been found dead after he was reported missing earlier off Blake Island, and a second man died in a separate diving accident at Edmonds, officials said.

Both diving deaths happened Saturday in the waters of Puget Sound.

In the first incident, the diver, his adult son and two other people got together Saturday morning and donned their scuba gear to go spearfishing underwater about 150 yards off Blake Island at about 9 a.m.

Blake Island is in the west Sound, between Bainbridge and Vashon islands.

They were diving off a boat, and their plan was to surface at the end of the dive and rendezvous at a certain pre-arranged place and time. Three of the divers showed up, but the fourth did not.

As soon as the threesome realized their diving partner was missing, they called 911 and rescue boats were dispatched to the scene.

The man's body was found and recoverd a few hours later after the Coast Guard launched a search in the area, officials said. He was identified as a 49-year-old Poulsbo man.

In the second incident, a man in his 50s lost consciousness while diving with his adult son in an underwater scuba diving park off the Edmonds waterfront.

The son brought the man to shore and performed CPR, while someone called 911. When medics arrived, they took over CPR, but they couldn't revive the diver and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
