I'm thinking about going diving with a friend to the Red Sea area, it probably won't be until next year at least (got too much personal crap to sort out!).
She's already been to sharm el sheikh.

So I'm wondering would sharm el sheikh be the better place to go diving? or would hurgada and marsa alam be a possible option??

TIA

I hear Sharm is crowded, Dahab and those other 2 areas far less crowded yet good.

Best place I been for town and diving was El gouna fantastic place.

Didn’t like Sharm too busy, didn’t go diving, just snorkelling.

Let us know where you decide to go.

By the way, the dive club I belong to organise some great holidays to the Red Sea, check out the below link, if you don’t see something you like they are more than happy to organise something for you. If you do decide to use them call, ask for Collin and ask for some advice on best dive resorts and dive packages. He's very friendly and always happy to help.

I recommend Eilat- Israel, also, Aqaba Jordan, the jordanian side is almost untouched, look for Red Sea Dive Centre, guy named Abdulla Momany runs it, tell him Daniel from the IUI sent you. he gives excelant service.
In Eilat there are quite afew dive centres you can dive through, try Coral Sea Divers, Baracuda dive centre, and Manta-Red Sea Sport Club.
Baracuda is a very new and family like dive centre, run by Amnon Heine, great guy, all instructors there are very professional. i highly recomend it.
i could gtive you contact details for all centres above if you wish.
in Sinai there are the Camel centres, also very professional.
if you get to Israel, let me know, I'll take you diving to places divers do not go, places that only researchdivers have access to :)
hope this helped.

Thanks for that Steve, I will definitely make a note of that and keep that as an option :)

DiverDaniel - You're making me have to make a decision (i hate decisions!). Israel is one country that I've always wanted to go to, my shul used to organise trips over there

Thanks for the info guys. If sharm is more busier than the others, then I think Hurghada would be the better option.

If we do end up going, probably Jan/Feb 2011 (dependant on personal crap), anyone interested in joining us? Might make it more fun, and cheaper if there's going to be a group of us????

Oh shoot Lottie, I forgot that you were not a goy. Anyway, I went snorkeling in Eilat when I was in high school and it was the most spectacular thing I have ever seen underwater. It was so long ago that I don't remember what fish I saw there, but let me tell you it was insane. As you know I dive the reefs of Florida pretty often, and I do see some amazing things there, but there is just no comparison. On top of that if you have never been to Israel, you really need to go.

If you do go, make sure you hook up with some type of tour group so you get to see some of the important sites you might otherwise miss. I was there for 2 months and it wasn't long enough.
