A 52-year-old Itasca, Illinois man has died while scuba diving off Blanket Sound in Andros in the central Bahamas.

The incident happened sometime around 3.45pm on Saturday. Local officials Monday identified the dead tourist as David M. Gasinski.

Police say witnesses reported the man's body was found floating face-down during an organized dive with his wife and two other tourists off Blanket Sound in Andros.

Dive tour organizers pulled Gasinski from the water and performed CPR, but he never regained consciousness and was later pronounced dead at a local clinic.

The fatal scuba diving accident is under investigation and an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.

Gasinski is survived by his wife, Michelle and his daughters, Theresa, Amanda, Emma and Samantha.

A service celebrating the life of David M. Gasinski, 52, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, April 24, at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday, April 23, at the Salerno's Rosedale Chapels, 450 W. Lake St. (¾ mile west of Bloomingdale/Roselle Road), Roselle.
