I own a sony HDR-FX 1 and got on my last dive an error reading:
E:61:00.
The camera is out of Focus and can't be adjusted.
Is there anyone who encountered a problem like this already.
Any help is highly preciated.

Hello Klemens, long time no see.

Sorry to hear about your FX1, and it gets worse: The dreaded E:61 error relates to the focus reset sensor:

E:61:00__Difficult to adjust focus__Inspect the lens block focus reset sensor.

That error requires it be sent in to a professional Sony repair place.

Some power the camera on and off a few times and get it to work.

That sensor may reside inside the sealed lens and those lenses are really expensive to have replaced. A false reading from the lens sensor can be from a poor contact on the electrical signal ribbon to and from it. Disconnecting and reconnecting that may brush off the crap on the contacts.

Sony uses a special controller which plugs into the LANC port and they use a special fine focus control chart to calibrate things via that controller and LANC connection. Not the sort of do it yourself repair!

Philippines humidity is murder on electronics. Don't keep it in a closed case unless you have working silica gel and you know it is fresh.

The camera got checked by a sony technician and here comes the bad news, they have to replace the lens which costs around 1000 US$.
So, if one of you has a camera which can't focus anymore that's like what will happen to you, so be aware of the expenses if you want to get that fixed or better you be insured as I'm.

What insurance do you have and what does it cost?
