Hi,

I want to share this cool program created in Boston to help inner city, at risk kids by certifying them as divers. The program has been active for more than a year now and it is growing. The concept is really cool. Take a look at their website and especially to the video showing "certification day".

Thanks for the info. Mentoring teens (http://www.atriskyouthprograms.com/youth-programs/mentoring-at-risk-youth.html) through scuba diving can really help disobedient teenagers to recover from troubled behaviors. At S.T.A.R.S. (Scuba Training At-Risk Students) they also help at-risk teens to learn scuba diving, driving small boats, care for aquatic animals and help youths stay away from crime and gangs.

They are focused solely on at-risk teens (ages 13-17) with the goal to provide a positive diversionary activity incorporating scuba diving which reinforces and supports local academic achievement and career development.
