Lunocet (http://www.lunocet.com/blog/?cat=6)Looks interesting, but "subhuman" is the term of art that we applied years ago to pilots of the Deep Rover submersible.

Isn't that a term we also use to describe some politicians? ;)

Fun looking bit of gear, but at $1800 per time, it had better do a lot more than just get me through the water! ;)

Where did you get the pricing? What do you mean "per time", is it a one time use thing?

Pricing came from the manufacturers web site, http://www.lunocet.com/ If you click on the "order" tab, it shows the price as $1800. I'm sure it's "recommended retail" and so may vary if you actually want to buy one, but who knows.

As for the "per time" reference, sorry, $1800 rental fee would be a little extreme ;). Probably should have said "per item" or "per unit" or simply "each".

Anyway, per time, per unit or per fin, its out of my price range!

Well, it is also out of my price range right now as well, but even if it were, it is not something I would want or need. It really has no use for wreck diving, can't imagine it would do too well at slowly moving through a wreck as not to disturb anything. That big thing would be banging into everything creating a silt cloud from hell and most likely getting tangled in something.

I am sure it might be something reef divers would like, but for the price, a scooter is not that far off. And seriously, what would you rather have?

I'm with you, can't really see any reason to have one for divers. Aside from the $1800 issue, I really don't need to swim at 8mph, it can't be as manouverable as normal fins and I'm struggling to figure how I'd do a giant stride entry! ;)

Think of TSA and what it would cost to fly with those dudes!

I can just see it now, TSA worried Al Qaeda would use it in a sneak attack, so now ALL fins are banned, which would REALLY deal a sever blow to Al Qaeda.
