Following on from this thread (http://www.scubamagazine.net/showthread.php?t=1067), due to having a three-way tie, we need to decide which one we all want to do - yeah, i know it's loads of polls at the moment, but its the most democratic way of making a decision - unless you want me to make the decision for you????

If you pick Liveaboard, can you post a reply to this thread stating which liveaboard you want to do, or the area. Thanks

I've set this poll to close on the 31st January, which should hopefully give us enough time to pick where you want to go.

Would an Isle Royale trip qualify as a liveaboard? Most are.

They all look good. But "where" really depends on who's really serious in going and the final headcount.

It also depends on who we can get a good group trip rate from and how many go. I am still waiting to hear back from a few more resorts.

We have to get an idea of where people want to go, correlate that to where we can get good deals, then we have to market it for a time, and dive travel specialists told us at DEMA that most entities market a trip for 6 months to a year in advance.

But as Lottie says, we need to hear who is interested and where you all want to go.

I know where Amtrosie wants go! ;)

littlelemur is concerned about the lookers, and the fear that not enough members would sign up to go on the trip is a bit valid. Therefore; I have chosen to not vote, since I am already scheduled to go to the Philippines in Feb., thet would be my vote anyway.
The publisher was recently in the Philippines, and Idivechick also appears to have been there at some time. I do recomend the Philippines, since the diving is great!!
Puerto Galera: the most varied diving you can find in one spot. Rec;Wreck;tech; deep; coral;nature;drift. all in one area. Dives can be as low as $22/ dive with $5 /dive for full equiptment rental. rooms can be had for $18/night, food is great, Italian;Mexican;and Philipino, there may be others, in Sabang or in Puerto Galera itself.
Cebe is where my wife and I are going nest Feb. I will try to post a report while there.:)

I have heard wonderful things about the diving in the Philippines but have yet to dive there so that would be my first choice. Costa Rica is one of my favourite travel destinations but my preference for diving there is on the warmer, shallower, more laid back Caribbean side. My only diving experience on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica yielded poor visibility and strong currents, not particularly good for video work. Now, if you want to do a live aboard out to Cocos Island you will certainly pique my interest. My availability is dependent on scheduling. At present there are excursions to Yap and Raja Ampat on the books and consideration is also being given to the Red Sea and Mexico for next year. Keep me informed.

OK, that sounds great. Now if Spirit flys there, I can go for a week of diving and I will only spend like $500. Now that is a travel deal. I am sure if we could get deals like that there will be a lot of takers rather than tire kickers for our trip.

We'll sort out the places to stay and places to dive once this poll has finished (end of January peeps!) ...unless you get those votes in (for those of you that haven't voted)..looks like we're going to Costa Rica :D:D:D

6 more days left to vote for where YOU want to go on the first SMN group trip, so, if you haven't already - get voting!

Just an FYI for that may make the decision easier. Spirit Airlines (the one with the great deals I have been talking about) flys to Costa Rica. They fly out of Ft. Lauderdale Florida directly to Costa Rica.

Only another 24 hours left to make that vote count on where YOU want to go for the SMN inaugural group trip....

I will start contacting Philippines resorts and see what type of deals we can work out.
